Dancing with Abandon

How old am I child?

Old enough to have heard your sister singing, tingling,

And know the harmony.

Old enough to feel her throat-less, lung-less, breath,

And know that I still don’t know her.

Old enough to have groped in heart's crucible,

And found it empty.

Old enough to know that standing alone on a peak, aflame,

I am alive.

And having given everything, unconditionally,

I am rich.

To know that sitting, counting the pulse behind my eyes,

I am all.

Old enough to know that dancing with abandon,

Completes me,

Beyond words or thought,

And, knowing that I know, I am old enough.
